Don't kill the future of Myanmar
Yesterday, the worst disaster occurred in Myanmar after the military coup on February 1. I heard shocking foreign media reports that 38 people were killed yesterday as a result of the military's indiscriminate shooting, including a 14-year-old boy.
The citizens of Myanmar are demanding the restoration of democracy through peaceful protests against the military, which overturned the government created through legitimate elections.
To regain democracy, teachers and students are also giving up classes and going to the streets, and many students have already been arrested and detained by the military and police.
Locking up and killing students is killing the future of Myanmar.
Article 19 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, ratified by 196 countries around the world, including Myanmar, states that ``the Parties should provide appropriate legislative, administrative, social and educational measures to protect children from exploitation, including all physical and mental violence, injuries or abuse, etc.
Violence and murder against adolescents and children are obvious violations of international law.
The Myanmar military is urged to release detained students and stop the use of violence against protesters immediately.
We express our solidarity to teachers, students and all citizens of Myanmar who risk their lives and resist with their naked bodies. We urge the restoration of peace and democracy in Myanmar.
